Two summits, a proper scramble, and loch views to the south. The crux between the two peaks is short but hands-on — check conditions before you commit.

Two Munros above Loch Earn linked by a rocky ridge. The Ben Vorlich ascent is straightforward fell; the connecting ridge to Stuc a' Chroin has a short but genuine scramble.

The route

From roadside parking at Ardvorlich on the south shore of Loch Earn, follow the track up Glen Vorlich. The ascent of Ben Vorlich is steep but on a clear path to the summit at 985m. A rocky ridge connects south to Stuc a' Chroin (975m). The northeast ridge of Stuc a' Chroin requires a short scramble — hands required.

The scramble

The connecting ridge between the two Munros involves exposed rocky ground. In summer it's a Grade 1 scramble. In snow or ice it becomes a serious mountaineering objective.

Watch out for

The northeast ridge of Stuc a' Chroin involves exposed scrambling — serious in icy or wet conditions. Remote once above the glen. Navigation complex in cloud. Ardvorlich Burn can be high after heavy rain.
